It seems astonishing that46.2 million US adults smoke cigarettes according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This is 22.8% of all adults (25.2% male, 20.7 female)nearly one in every four adults. In spite of a 1982 Surgeon Generals Report that cigarette smoking is the major single cause of cancer mortality in the United States, people continue to smoke at these alarming rates.

Since cigarette smoking and tobacco use is a choice/decision, smoking is the most preventable cause of cancer and ultimately premature death in our society.

When cigarette smoking is based on race/ethnicity the statistics are:

Whites———————————————————-24.0%

African Americans———————————————22.3%

Hispanics——————————————————-16.7%

American Indians/Alaska Natives—————————32.7%

Asian Americans———————————————–12.4%

The number of younger age groupsalthough not the highest are alarmingalmost 27% of 18 to 24 years old smoke.

440,000 people die each year in the US from tobacco use. Nearly one of every five deaths is related to smoking. Cigarettes kill more Americans than alcohol, car accidents, suicide, AIDS, homicide, and illegal drugs combined.

Cancer from cigarette smoking is at least 30% of all cancer deaths. It is a major cause of cancers of the lung, larynx (voice box), oral cavity, pharynx (throat), and esophagus, and is a contributing cause in the development of cancers of the bladder, pancreas, liver, uterine cervix, kidney, stomach, colon and rectum, and some leukemia.

With the plethora of products and services to quit smoking it would seem that in 20+ years after the Surgeon Generals report everyone would quit smoking and no one would consider starting. Obviously, this is not the case. The question isWhy?

The answer is simple. These products and services only treat the symptoms and fail to address the root cause that prompts anyone to start smoking.

Post-hypnotic suggestions are touted as the ultimate technique for smoke cessation. However, post-hypnotic suggestions are temporary, unless the process includes accessing and healing the root cause.

Hypnosis allows you to access your subconscious mind, which makes up 90% of your brain that stores all your memories. With hypnosis, you reprogram and release thought patterns and habits to make desirable, lasting changes in your life.

The steps to accessing and healing the root cause are:

An overview of Hypnosis and how it works. After this presentation, you will know more about the truth of Hypnosis than 99% of the general public.

Discuss your smoking pattern, onset and rationale for smoking.

Recommend a program which will most rapidly assist you in achieving your goal.

Answer your questions so you are comfortable with the idea of Hypnosis and feel good about your relationship with your Hypnotist.

Hypnosis session will begin. You will be guided into a deep state of physical and mental relaxation. You will feel relaxed, yet remain alert mentally. You will be aware of everything going on around you, while being fully focused in your subconscious awareness.

Accessing the root cause of the reason for smoking will be processed.

Suggestions for replacing cigarettes to fulfill your needs will be given to your powerful subconscious mind. These suggestions will be retained by your subconscious and become a part of you. The old programming, which was keeping you from achieving your goals or which was causing a problem is removed, allowing you to accomplish goals and eliminate problems.

You will then be emerged from Hypnosis with strong suggestions of good health and positive frame of mind. You will feel better than you have for a very long time. These suggestions will continue to last, yet may need to be reinforced.

Everyone wants to know the number of sessions required. Using a systematic approach, the majority of people need four to six sessions for a specific issue. Five sessions is the average number of sessions required to create permanent and lasting results. Many hypnotists state that one one-hour session is all that is required to quit smoking. However, with only one one-hour session 95% of people start smoking again after six to eighteen months. Why? The answer is the emotional reason the person started smoking can not be removed in only one session. In order for the majority of people to cease smoking forever, the root cause that prompted them to smoke needs to be resolved, thus three to five sessions are required.

The slow and relaxed experience of smoking a hookah, which includes preparation of the hookah and the tobacco, is the whole point of hookah smoking. It’s not about a buzz or a nicotine fix, it’s about the relaxed space, among friends and out of time, that is created by the hookah and the act of smoking it. Typically, a hookah smoking session lasts somewhere between 30 and 60 minutes.

After carefully preparing a clean hookah with cold water, selecting a flavorful tobacco for the bowl, lighting and adding the charcoal, the aromatic hookah smoke is drawn bubbling through the water. Cooled and softened after being filtered by the water, light, pleasant smoke infuses the senses, lingering on the air, encouraging slow meditative breathing and sweetening conversation, games of dominoes, or quiet contemplation and study.

Some techniques used to enhance the experience of hookah smoking are adding ice to the water and chilling the hoses beforehand. The lush fruit flavors of hookah smoke can be heightened by the addition of fruit juice or wine to the water in the base, and both customers and proprietors of hookah smoking lounges regularly combine tobacco flavors to come up with their own special blends.

Some tips and warnings given by veteran smokers include the following: always use the proper charcoal, specifically made for hookah smoking-regular charcoal briquettes cause carbon monoxide poisoning, and charcoal which isn’t low-smoke will overwhelm the hookah smoke; only a very small amount of hookah tobacco is needed in the bowl, since a little goes a long way; if the smoke or flavor are lacking, it’s probably because the coals aren’t hot enough-when smoking for more than half an hour or so, fresh coals will be needed.

Because hookah smoking is, and has traditionally been, a social activity, the etiquette which attends it is important. Some of the rules of etiquette are never to light cigarettes using the charcoal that heats the hookah tobacco; avoid blowing smoke in the face of another person unless they ask–so they can taste the flavor being smoked; since the point of the individual plastic mouthpiece is health and safety, don’t share them; when one person is done smoking but the hookah is still in use, setting a hose directly on the table signifies that smoker is finished and another person may use the hose; when a hookah smoking session is completed, the hoses should be wrapped around the stem; finally, don’t smoke anything but tobacco out of a hookah.
